We have the riverside to ourselves this morning. No firemen, no rowers, no dog walkers. Sophie stops to watch a tree bobbing slowly by. Sophie has an ability to stop and become completely transfixed by passing things. Satisfied the tree has no nefarious purpose we finally continue our walk.
The lady who owns the franchise tells me that the Pastrami Waffles are nearly sold out. 'You'd better pick them up now while there's some left. I phoned in an order to the distributors warehouse but they've all gone'. True enough the Pastrami Waffles and bacon burgers are running low as are the veggie burgers. Grilled cheese sandwiches and Hot-Dogs a la New-Yorkaise are selling more slowly.
Angus observes that somehow, somewhere, the Crazy America logo has morphed into Hello America.
Angus is torn with indecision between a Confetti Cake and a Generous Cookie, Brownie and Marshmallow cake. The choice is far too weighty. Instead he opts for some pop corn flavoured ice-cream to go with lunch. This will either be a culinary delight or a disaster.

We visit the garage to top up with fuel. Another hike today. Now E2:31 a litre. That's up 25% + in 3 days.

Gail says: Two great links today, but I predict 'disaster' for the popcorn flavoured ice cream.
Sad news from Aberdeen: after much heartache, I have made the most difficult decision, and Bertie will be gently 'put to sleep' this afternoon, before his worsening condition causes him more pain.
Dear Gail, Such sad news. Please give your sweet boy a huge hug from me and remind him he is loved by so many people and dogs all around the world. Thinking of you both. Love Francesca
Gail I am so sorry to hear your news. We always know when it is the right moment, but it doesn't make it hurt less. I will miss Bertie's insights and input in the comments.
An unusually quiet morning for you two, but at least the croissant met with Sophie's approval. It seems to me that today she had more than the curly ends - how long before you buy her a whole one all to herself! Agree with Gail, the popcorn ice cream sounds a disaster, but then I'm sure Sophie will be happy to slurp up the remains!
Such sad news about Bertie, Inca and I have already sent sympathy, hugs and kisses on Bertie's blog.
I'm so sorry this time has come, Gail, we will all miss Bertie.
I am so so sorry to hear the news. He has had the heart of a lion and been a valiant companion. You can be sure that it's a universal truth that a dogs devotion doesn't go to sleep it simply runs on ahead. Stay strong. This afternoon is the kind, caring, loving final act in a lifetime of trust.
When faced with what sweet to try, try them all. Popcorn ice cream sounds strange to this Crazy American.
I have to agree with Gail; the popcorn ice cream likely will be a disaster, but may be a worthy "experiment." With so many bakery delights available, these frozen "foods" seem more like a talking point.... Of course, we hope to hear more!
A lovely way to say it: a dog,'s devotion simply runs on ahead.
