Pretzels

This morning, although its not yet seven, there are twenty or so students clustered on the dunes. The boys are throwing a rugby ball around and drinking beers, the girls are clustered round a small fire and eating pretzels. I'd guess that they've been here for some time. Nothing like warmer days and shorter nights to bring the students out of hibernation.

Sophie sniffs the air and bounds off  across the beach. She has pretzels on her mind.  Angus follows, helplessly - borderline gormlessly, after her. The word 'stop!' no longer in the divas vocabulary. Sophie, completely fearless, heads into the crowd of students. This 'get to know you' technique is rewarded with a pretzel. Angus isn't so much ignored as treated as if he's completely invisible. Sophie is encouraged away.

There was a  concert in the town church last Saturday but apart from that there have been few signs that the coronation is less than six weeks away. This may be about to change. In Marks and Spencers Union Flag bunting makes an appearance. Two thirds of the bunting has already gone although it was only put out on display last night. I'll bet that after Easter 'Coronation Fever' will hit big time.

Uniformity beats distinctiveness. The picture of modern cars at the bottom of this article caught my eye. Could you tell the difference ? :https://www.alexmurrell.co.uk/articles/the-age-of-average

On the radio this morning a blast from the far distant past :https://youtu.be/FNiG6mecJug?t=14

I suppose everywhere will be awash soon with red, white and blue, and feverish anticipation will grip the media. Good time for a revolution!

Gail is all too familiar with the helpless, borderline gormless, pursuit of the dog, and of being treated as invisible as Nobby garners all the attention.
Nobby now wants to try a pretzel, and is wondering where it ranks in the jaffa cake, shortbread, croissant hierarchy.

I noted exactly one house in the neighbourhood of the Hutch last year raised bunting for the platinum jube-party; ten people in attendance managed to make enough noise to cover most of West Bay. Am reasonably confident it will again be the only house around here getting dressed for the next occasion. YAM xx

Such a sweet little Diva, who wouldn't share a pretzel with her. When she comes back with a beer first thing in the morning, start to worry.

"April Love" brought back memories, a time that now appears relatively (and somewhat deceptively) innocent.

You always find interesting articles to read. I loved today's article. I live in a mostly rural community with a great influx of tourists visiting vineyards and beaches. During the Covid years a large number of people escaping the city (Toronto) bought property to move here. Some of the designs shown in the article are now making their way here. People want the comfort of the city in the country. Soon we will have a mixture of the new with the old and the average will no longer be.

I loved the fact that Disney has borrowed the royal family in order to avoid Ron DeSantis and the rule against perpetuities. Before DeSantis's handpicked board took over, the old board put in place measures that will remain effective "until twenty one (21) years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III." Today's article about the age of average rings true to anyone currently trying to buy a car that is neither a hatchback nor an SUV (and, in France, neither white nor black), but I think it has pretty much always been so - anyone remember avocado green kitchen appliances?
