There will come a time when you believe everything is finished. That will be the beginning.

Much activity around the pottery kiln. Three men unload a pump from the back of a white van and attach it to a hose which leads to the village pond. '' In case of accidents " says the deputy mayor somewhat breezily. The old farmer is in charge. Today he's in his summer outfit. String vest, khaki shorts, black socks, sandals and a tartan lumberjack hat with ear covers. The firing of the kiln has been postponed, again, for ' technical reasons '.

In the afternoon the special needs school in the neighbouring market town holds a karaoke contest in the Salle des Fetes. To be more precise they hold their karaoke contest on the village green in front of the Salle des Fetes.  Bob and Sophie are greatly taken with karaoke and join in - enthusiastically.

Ten in the evening. It's just getting dark. Another group of pilgrims walk through the village. Like yesterdays pilgrims they're going in the wrong direction. These pilgrims also sing. So do Bob and Sophie.

There is to be a referendum on Scottish independence next year. The pro-independence party has unveiled their mascot. A Scottie called Duggy. To hear how Duggy speaks click the link below. By the time of the vote we will all probably have heard a lot more of Duggy.

We'd vote for Duggy. If we were in Mexico, we'd vote for Morris the Cat!

Did the Jack Russells get into the Karaoke, too?

Dear ANGUS - you have made this Scottish Terrier obsessed household, on the Westcoast of Canada, very very happy indeed! Thanks for introducing us to the new Spokesman and Mascot of the up and coming 'pro' Scottish referendum on independence - DUGGY! He's certainly a brilliant choice! Many thanks!

Oh no we have to wait for the firing of the kiln and to see Mr.Farmer in his Summer outfit. We wait with baited breath. Have a super Saturday.
Best wishes Molly
PS Some our readers have said they are not getting our post feeds. We are posting as usual.

This is why pretty much no-one outside teh central belt wants independence. We'd just be swapped one distant regime (London) for another (Edinburgh- or, more accurately, Glasgow). Keech? I never heard anyone outside Glasgow or a song call it keech.

What are your backwards pilgrims doing?

Lions this morning?

Having only seen the video, I'm already a supporter of the pro-independence party just because of having my own duggy, like Duggy.

I had new patient yesterday from Rennes. He spoke English pretty well, but several times during his appointment repeated what he said, and so of course, for that and because he was French, I thought of you.

I think the people in your village must be the most fashionable anywhere! I always love your stories!

Australia upset the apple cart ! Not sure that many people in the Central Belt are that keen either. See Labrokes odds are 7:1 against.

Love Duggy! His accent reminds me of my darling grandfather, how I miss him! So glad Bob and Sophie have found their calling, in the form of melodieux together!

Er, thank you for introducing us to Duggie. I am looking forward to seeing how the pro-union forces react. Have tried to enlist Bertie to the cause, but he says he is not a political animal...
Cheers, Gail.

Bob and Sophie getting involved in karate must have been quite a sight....they're both capable candidates.
I loved Duggy too, he's the perfect Mascot.
Are the pilgrims on their return trip after visiting the holy place? Maybe you missed them when they were traveling there.
I guess the kiln will be finally fired up again some time next week.
Have a nice weekend.

Duggy Dug sounds remarkably like a friend who lives in Dumfries and Galloway. A cartoon dog is certainly preferable to some of the stuff put forth in political campaigns. Hope the kiln firing, whenever it happens, is uneventful, but suspect it may not be.

Oh yes.
We shall hear much more from Duggy.
A charming chap, I must say.

I truly love the title you used for this entry. Thank you. Is it your words or a quote?

Just a quote stumbled across by accidnet. Attributed to Louis L'Amour. Know no more.
