Law enforcement.

The emergency services are out in force. Two foals and their mothers have got into the churchyard. They've trampled the chrysanthemums, eaten the hay in the crib and made short shrift of the standard rose bushes. The police and fire brigade apprehend them just as they're starting on the lavender borders.

The horses appear completely unconcerned by the activity around them. Police, fire brigade and the mayor and his wife hold a council of war. There is much shrugging of shoulders. By the time we leave a small crowd of farmers and very young farmers has gathered.

'The font' makes the first batch of  mince pies. Bob is so excited  he shows, and keeps on showing, his overbite. Sophie tries the pastry and makes an involuntary squeak of delight.

The hectic pace of life in deepest , deepest France profonde.

Home made mince pies? No wonder tongues are hanging out and overbites are being licked.

Those tongues and happy faces are a sure stamp of approval of the Font's mince pies.
I had no idea that horses devoured flowers....hope they have been returned to their home....let's hope the farmer to whom they belong will offer to repurchase everything they enjoyed at "the all you can eat buffet" in the churchyard.

They look quite at home on the church lawn.
Merlin says yes please to a mince pie...despite being poorly for a few days (I suspect he found something delightfully digesting to eat on a recent walk). Bobs overbite makes for a lovely smile.

I'm laughing out loud at those two enjoying the first of the mince pies.

They ate all the hay in the manger? Oh dear.....excitement abounds in the church yard and in the kitchen!

IWhen I first saw the second photo from the top, I thought it was a freize with 3-D horses! They looked so right there,

We see they both still have the garden boots on. The terror would like a pair. Mince pie--is that for you or the font. My Swedish father loved mince pie, but so does my Irish bro-in-law. Must be a European thing!

I thought at first the horses were perhaps part of a living manger scene. Hope they enjoyed the hay.
