Shiny Bacon.

No sooner is Bob cured of Harvest Mites than Sophie gets them. Down to the vets for some more medicated shampoo. Giving two enthusiastic dogs a thorough wash on a grey December morning a delight.

In the afternoon Sophie digs up hyacinth bulbs. She is ordered indoors. She does her best " I cannot tell a lie. It was my brother " routine. The paws say it all.

Angus and Bob head off to see Monsieur Bay about the Belgian Lady and the Horse Farm. On their way home they stop off at MacDonalds for a coffee and a macaroon. Bob is given a piece of burger bun by a nice young lady behind the counter. It's taste of America week. One of the specials is that old American classic the Double Shiny Bacon. Surely a mistranslation ? But of what ?

Christmas has come early. The following spam e-mail comes winging to the in-box.

Greeting.
I have an investment profile of $47,500.000.00 i want to move this money out from Afghanistan. I need a reliable person, someone I can trust I will move it through diplomatic means, to send it to your house directly or a bank of your choice where i will meet you up for disbursement, I am ready to offer you 25% share for your assistance if you are interested reply back.

What could possibly be suspicious about that ?

Double Shiny Bacon sounds good to me. I'm sure Bob and Sophie would have been happy to sample it.
Toodle pip!

Afghanistan? Usually it's Nigeria....

Looks like one of those burgers is on a hot cross bun...

$47,5 million! It's only 0,2% of the Afghan GDP - I'm sure it won't be missed

Splitbread. Another American speciality known only to MacDonalds French outlets.

That's why Sophie doesn't get taken to MacDonalds. She would howl !

Oh dear, I hope Sophie feels better soon....maybe some of that "double shiny bacon" will do the trick. That description really got lost in the translation....lol.

I'd try some double shiny bacon.

I think I might have to pass on the double shiny but macaroons, well thats another story altogether !

Your MacDonalds is terribly confusing. I think the shiny refers to the roll and the bacon an addition to the burger. Split bread was quite enough of a question but now what can shiny bread be ? After all of this, I'm beginning to eye the macarons with suspicion.

Love all those zeros.
Ah, the temptation.

From what I have read, Karl is correct. The shiny part refers to the bun and not the bacon.

I believe that would be "crispy" bacon.

Awwwwwwwww...Sophie is smiling in the first picture!
Howling is acceptable when there's shiny bacon involved.

I'd be just as suspicious of the shiny bacon.

Double shiny bacon sounds as suspicious as the 47.5 million.

Wouldn't 47.5 mill be a bit heavy and bulky for a diplomatic pouch? Even in large bills. What denomination is that? US? Wonder what the exchange rate to Euros would be? If they ship to the rickety old farmhouse, I bet the Pon duo could help you bury it in the garden.

That email, he would meet you up alright!

I think shiny is probably perfectly descriptive for American style. So many chemicals allowed in US
food (stuff outlawed in Europe, McDonald's have completely different ingredients there) that thereis probably some varnish on the bun!
