We meet the mayor opening up the town hall in readiness for tomorrows 'beautiful gardens ' prize giving. Yesterday , he was called to a security gathering in the prefecture. A mornings lecture on what to do in case djihadists try to take over the village. The lecture was followed by lunch. Hake with a Premier Cru Chablis and Lamb with a 2005 St.Estephe. Tarte Tatin and a Sauterne to follow. '' It was very good " adds the mayor without letting on whether this judgement applied to the lecture or the lunch, or both.
A record of those unimportant little things that are too important to be forgotten.

I guess it would be a breach of national security to reveal the village's plans for dealing with jihadis but I'd love to know.
We were thinking the same as Gail (above).
That is a blustery day. Love the PON's locks blowing in the wind!
Angus, shame on you, didn't you teach Sophie to knock before entering? The girl is way too forward. Anticipation must be at fever-point today in the village - will anyone sleep tonight, wondering if they have won one of the mayor's wife's "interesting tableaux"?
Would hazard a guess that it was the lunch that was very good. We all know how yawn-making officialdom can be once they take the stage, even with a subject as serious as this.
I love the windswept pictures of the PONs today
We're getting similar winds here today, but it doesn't give the same almost comedic look on Goldens as it does on Bob and Sophie.
Great photos!
Everyone in our family Agrees!
Thanks

Call the local gendarme ? Or. if he's off duty, the Sapeurs-Pompiers ?
