Global warming.

Another 40 degree day. There's a change in the weather this year. It's much hotter than usual. The refreshing, regular as clockwork, nightly downpours replaced by sudden torrents once every two or three weeks. The garden looking highly stressed. We'll lose half a dozen acers to the relentless heat. Only those in full shade will survive the scorching. Global warming ? Or just an errant year ?

Bob, of course, is completely untroubled by any of this. Every day is just perfect.

The Old Farmer returns at 3.30 in  the morning. The sound of the 1980's era Peugeot sputtering to a halt briefly wakes us. The PONs slumber on oblivious.

After a restorative doze the old fellow wanders over to tell us about his adventure. 513 kilometres each way. The journey conducted on back roads. The venerable Peugeot not designed for motorway cruising. He's bought two cases of wine for himself and two for us. '' They only have cardboard cases. Can't get the people to make the proper wooden ones " he informs us somewhat sniffily.

The sunflowers coming to an end. One last field at the edge of the village waiting to be harvested.

Another very quiet summer day in deepest, deepest France profonde.

The cheerful faces of the sunflowers, in your picture, bring much joy! Good to know The Old Farmer returned safely. Mission accomplished !!!

Good to hear you got your wine. Mum used to drink a fair amount of wine, but because of her meds, she doesn't drink very much any more. She was telling me that she used to date this attorney in Cleveland who used to take her to some very expensive wines (especially red wines), but because very dry wines made her sick, he used to tease her that she was a "cheap date"!!!!!

Aah but does GD pay taxes on his wine profits? Or does he pay them to his great friend Vladimir? You must tell us if it's any good.

Hope the wine was worthwhile. At our local Leclerc they are selling a wine from the winery of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Not sure if this is a good thing or not.

The Brangelina rose is said to be rather good .One of the wandering American college boys went on a wine tasting in Aix where he tried it.

One wonders if the venerable Peugeot is suitable on back roads either.

If you ever wondered why you should have insurance .....

The Old Farmer, who is a great fan, refuses to believe M.Depardieu has any problems with the fiscale.

Perhaps she'll manage a glass every now and then ?

Happy sunflower faces, happy PONs and happy owners after sampling the wine.

A chilled white is a good antidote for the heat :) We have had 16 100+ degree days so far this summer...

So glad The Old Farmer is back safely with his precious cargo.
Enjoy the wine....wouldn't matter to me if they came in a wooden or cardboard case to be honest...just as long as what's inside is the good stuff...I'm okay.

That wine looks lovely! Sadly I think we are having the same summer as you over there....most of my garden is done which is incredibly early. Today is a good cloudy day, but there is more to come. Drink more wine, should help with the heat! PON's are just so lovely....

The first picture is so pretty – that lovely dappled sky, the church spire, the earth waiting for rain.

Seattle, WA had the hottest July in recorded history. We used to spend summers here to escape the heat - that's over. Love the sunflowers.

Looking forward to your review of the GD wines.
Sadly, it is global climate change, has been for some years now. Only now, when it's affecting everyone and corporate profits, is it getting much attention.
