PONd.

The village pond is surrounded by a low brick wall. Every day Bob stands, back paws on the ground, front paws on the wall, staring at the fat frogs sunbathing on the water lilies. He looks. They chirrup.

This morning he does the same. I laugh. The pleasures of a dogs daily routine. No sooner have I turned to head home than there is a loud splash followed by thrashing sounds rather like a hippopotamus wallowing in mud.

Today, Bob has decided to show the frogs who's boss.

Bob chases the frogs with a half leaping, half swimming motion. Mud and algae float, profusely, to the surface.

Having made it into the pond dog does not want to leave. The pond is not deep, but it's deep enough. The bottom is also uneven .... and slippery .... and smelly. After several attempts dog is eventually grabbed by his harness and lifted onto dry land. Dog learns some choice Anglo-Saxon vocabulary.

Safely home, dog has a look on his face that says ' did you have as much fun as I did ? '.

Dogs sister, never one to let a crisis pass without a diva moment, yelps.

7:30 am and the dogs owner is already showering and changing clothes for the second time today.

Haha, way to go Bob! Any news on the condition of the frogs? Have they stopped laughing yet?

Did Bob need a shower too?

Oh I know that problem - Poppy did it too - sigh. Smelly and green :(
I am envious that you have visible frogs - haven't seen one here for years, just occasional tadpoles in places, but when I am in Nelson I hear Tree Frogs...

We're assuming Dog also had bath...

Hilarious! perhaps Bob has been waiting for the pond to reach maximum greenage before this valient effort?

Should I ask what Bob did for an encore?

Even though you know a huge clean up is in store, it must feel so exhilarating to see Bob so full of the sheer joy of living. Ah, to be a young boy dog, the world is your oyster-or rather, frog.

Bob, you are just too much fun. We had a saying when we owned Siberian Huskies, " never say never" it just means it hasn't happened yet. Thank you for the laughter. In Vancouver where we finally got some rain and a roaring winds.

I've never seen a green dog! Did Bob look like a frolicking Topiary?

48-7 was a great score. If only it had been England rather than Italy.

Angus said...

Perhaps dripping slime might be a truer picture.

Angus said...

'Never say never' sums it up.

Both Bob and master are in agreement that 'the day can only get better'.

His leap, although unseen, was probably pure Cirque du Soleil.

Angus said...

The smell matched the sight.

Angus said...

Snore.

Angus said...

That seems as good a reason as any .

Power hose.

Angus said...

The pond is frog central.

Angus said...

And how.

Angus said...

They're still chuckling.

We must say that Bob looks very pleased with himself - even after the dousing with the power hose ! In fact he looks like he'd like to repeat the whole thing again ! After that excitement, could the day really get any better? Shame there are no photos of Bob in all his slimy glory !!

Oh what a great laugh for me today.
I don't think Bob was perturbed by your choice Anglo-Saxon vocabulary in the least so you may as well save it.
There is always a first time and I guess today was it for Bob...gosh those frogs must have been truly startled.

Mon Dieu!

There is a reason why Polish Lowland Sheepdogs are not a more popular breed.

Slime and i-Phone's don't go well together.

The frogs were less startled than Bobs master.
