A record of those unimportant little things that are too important to be forgotten.

Coincidentally.
The storms that swept in from the Bay of Biscay and felled the cypress trees have gone. The morning turns out to be bright and warm. Sophie hurtles out of the houses as fast as those titanium knee joints will carry her. She is keen to get her day started.
The Old Farmer returns with his lady friend. He has come to pick apples from his orchard. ' Not like those things they sell in the supermarkets. These things have real taste ' he informs 'The Font'. Later today, after the apple picking, they will be going to the over 60's spectacular in the little market town. A day out for the areas retirees. Songs are sung, wine is consumed, two hot meals are served and a band comes all the way from Toulouse to entertain. Gossip is dispensed. Coincidentally, the local politicians will be there to remind the attendees of the upcoming municipal elections in March.
Angus heads off with Sophie to the bakers. Sophie is given a small choux pastry treat by the girl behind the counter. On our way home we listen to the impeachment proceedings on the radio. Jim Jordan, Matt Gaetz , Steve King and a soon to retire Mark Meadows fill the airwaves with their take on events. What will the French radio audience make of it all ?
The PON princess thinks a buche de noel might be a good thing to buy but we settle for a wholegrain loaf.

I have new respect for Sophie's titanium joints after trying to dismember a titanium credit card that American Express has blessed us with. I really didn't want to pay the postage to send the expired card back to the US for disposal, so I purchased a pair of rather fearsome-looking "tin snips" on Amazon. The tin snips made absolutely no impression on the credit card. If Sophie's joints are made of the same stuff, I think she's in good shape! Your Digby story from yesterday still has me chortling. Cherry's having an excellent day today, as her lost sheep has returned from Ohio - she had him blockaded in the living room when I left for work.
All PONs know that wandering sheep need to be blockaded.
I am amazed that the Old Farmer still has apples to pick, at this time of year and after all the storms.

Well, Heck, that was more dirge than Christmas cheer, I fear! Good for a morning giggle though. ta. Sophie's freedom of movement has me wondering if I ought not to be considering titanium joints... YAM xx
I just couldn't listen to anymore of the speechifying. We've had days and days of it on the cable news channels. I did, however, happily watch the votes tally up and Nancy Pelosi wield the gavel.
Those must be cyclamen in the planter, a nice dash of color.
We agree with Sophie - a buche de noel is a much better idea. Even if a wholegrain loaf is healthier, it's not so much fun!
