An aura of grandeur.

Sophie gets bored waiting for Angus to get the car keys . While he looks for them she opts for a quick legs in the air nap. The rising sun dusts her muzzle.

A walk through the neighbouring village. The castle has gone but the gate piers survive. This gives the remaining farm buildings and tractor shed an aura of grandeur.

On closer inspection the lions on their plinths don't so much look like lions as PON's. This improbable thought makes me laugh.

Angus has to talk to a large Zoom conference tomorrow.  How hideous is that ? ' The Font' thinks Angus should give some thought to the backdrop,  This I'm told is reflective.

This is seemingly business like and uncluttered.

Or this, which Angus prefers but 'The Font' thinks is too regulated and borderline psychotic. Angus has a feeling this may be exactly right for the men / ladies in dark suits.

The legs in the air pose never fails to raise a smile.
If Angus wants his Zoom audience to be distracted by trying to work out the titles of books on his shelves, I recommend the last background. Otherwise, I think uncluttered is best.
Cheers, Gail.

The lions are wonderful! I think the reflective one - everyone will be so envious, so French! And (I suspect) so unlike their own lives it will offer them a tiny glimpse of another, more magical, world.

Take a look at the Twitter account @ratemyskyperoom. Brilliant humour, rating backgrounds of US politicians and journalists and giving advice. My favourite tweet - "In a particularly cruel move, the hostage takers have moved X to a room without a door. Blink twice if you need help".

Or do the blank wall - the old hostage video look.

Loving the lions too.

I was just about to suggest Angus and "The Font" look at the same Twitter account - lots of fun comments and ideas for the perfect background for Zoom meetings!

That must have been an imposing gateway in days gone by. Makes a change to see happy lions - normally they look so ferocious.
Oh Sophie - that's not very lady-like, but it is funny!
Uncluttered will force everyone to concentrate on you Angus - no distractions!

I think the bookshelves are OK and would probably get a reasonable vote from @ratemyskyperoom. My daughter's online school uses a similar visual for their home page, although upon close inspection, all the books are actually mystery novels. It would be interesting to do the call outside, but people might become distracted! The lion/PONs look quite satisfied with their current environment.

I use a green screen (curtain) and borrow images such as swaying palm trees, the hall of mirrors at Versailles, Times Square...you may as well have a little fun Angus. But otherwise, I too like the reflective room as it is so very charming and French.

I like that you're thinking about the background for your meeting. Watching the news broadcasts from the home of the anchors has been an interesting glimpse into their lives. They almost always have books behind them, and I will admit to the distraction of looking at the titles.

I particularly enjoy watching home broadcasts that have, ahem, the occasional cat in the background. I envy your books on the Napoleonic era.

Watching the brave ones made me cry.

Just about every Zoom meeting I've seen has had books as the background.
Funnily enough, the bookshelves of Betsy Devos were empty.

The reflective background is nice, but before the meeting check how you look. You don't want that picture frame sticking out of your head! I had the same thought that the lion in the second picture looked like a PON! I teach on line and just have a screen (like shutters) behind me.

I hope not to be disobliging about the Education Secretary but many houses in Holland, MI may be light on reading matter.

Lady often sets her zoom background to a template as she is tired at looking at the wall behind her.
