Happy Labor Day.

Labor Day. The end of summer. Whatever happened to the year ?   2021 seems to have started with a rush and then picked up pace as it's gone along. So much for lockdown making the time drag !

A shriek tells me that the family diva wants to get the day started. Sophie's time keeping skills are exemplary but her social interactions could do with some work. After our early morning tour of the garden ( Sophie is oblivious to the presence of a large grey C-A-T asleep on the hammock ) we return inside for the car keys.  The ' I have the patience of a saint. Do get a  move on ' - look is brought into play.

To the drive thru bakers this morning and a chance for a pre-opening walk around the shopping centre. The two ducks that have made the flower bed outside the electrical retailers are chased. The ducks, it must be said, are at no time in any danger.

Two moorhens on the pond. One hides in the shrubbery. The other , braver one, struts its stuff in the sunshine. I'm guessing that the moorhens chicks are heading off, one by one, to find their own ponds.

The first Christmas e-mail arrives. Is this a record ? :https://www.rococochocolates.com/collections/christmas/

As I sit in my hotel by Gatwick Airport waiting for the shuttle to my early-ish flight back to Aberdeen after my godson's big wedding and a weekend of unfamiliar and intense socialising, I find myself wondering calming thoughts about moorhens, and wondering how close the nearest pond is. Cheers! Gail.

Gatwick on a Monday morning. Lucky you ! At least with the schools back the terminal should be relatively quiet.

And why shouldn't you get a move on with starting the day? There's a limit to how long a family diva should be kept waiting! Fortunately for me, Inca waits until I put one foot out of bed before giving way to her "let's start with breakfast" excitement!

My spouse would probably tell you that I have that "get a move on, we don't have all day" look often. Fun link for the candy shop.

Perhaps the chocolatier is anticipating shipping delays?? That's a wonderfully clear photo of the moorhen. I always find photos of the ROF (many periods') furnishings fascinating. Sophie's recent portrait, in front of the bookshelves, led me to a 2021 book I hadn't heard of. Thank you, Sophie!

Fabulous shot of pond life! As for Christmas, I can actually beat you (in a way)... two weeks back, Royal Mail delivered flyers through the door about how they will now perform a parcel pickup service (a la courier-style) for 'all your seasonal needs.' It stopped short of mentioning the "C" word, but clearly, that is them positioning themselves ahead of the rush! YAM xx
