Trampled daffodils.

Heavy trucks aren't allowed on French roads on a Sunday. This morning we find a group of Spanish trucks parked up on the waste ground by the supermarket petrol pumps. The drivers have been stranded here since Saturday night when they loaded up at the garlic processing plant. A group of them are waiting for the supermarket to open so they can buy breakfast and then get on their way for the final two hours down to the Spanish frontier. One of the truck designs could only be Spanish.

Sophie demonstrates that PON trait that says you must walk through the flower beds rather than around them. 'The Font' will go out later this morning and collect 'trampled' daffodils .

Time for a relaxed walk along the Roman Road. The farmers two dogs rush over to greet Sophie who is rather too interested in something she's found in the long grass to pay them much attention. They retreat. She finds a puddle to drink from.

Back at The Rickety Old Farmhouse Sophie demonstrates that PON article of faith - ' Stare at a door long enough and it shall be opened '. It never fails.  Then there's time for a quick restorative nap before heading off in the car for some curly croissant ends. Life in a French village for a nine year old sheepdog is a whirl of excitement.

Looking at the sky here, I think our day will be very much like yours. Inca is of the opinion that the puddle looks absolutely delicious, just the aperitif for curly croissant ends. She hopes we find one, equally murky, on our walk. It's rained heavily overnight so she may be in luck!
Pleased to see that there are trucks loaded with garlic heading our way - I do love garlic!

The daffodils are out too, here in my Torridon cottage garden. Sadly, no dog to trample them right now, although there will doubtless be more flowers in bloom when Bertie's successor, WFT puppy Nobby, makes his first west coast appearance!

Here is SE USA, our daffodils are beginning to fade. They bloom in the fields and woods around us, but not in our 3-dog yard. The SPoo seem to find plenty of yard-entertainment digging, and the cardis enjoy attempting to herd the cattle, just beyond reach, on the other side of the fence. A hard freeze the other night has stunted the other buds.

Her beauty rest/power naps continue to work. There might have been a C-A-T in the daffodils, one can never be too careful.

Ooohhhh... that shot of Sophie at the door has all the qualities of an old master painting! No sign of daffs around the beech tree in the yard yet, but I see the camelia over the road has buds at last... YAM xx

Sophie looks like she is reading the sign on the door, while waiting for it to open.

Oh no, not trampled daffodils! Rescuing the daffodils (usually from rain and wind) always makes for high drama in my life. Though she looks so angelic, no doubt Sophie is in need of a restorative nap after such mischief.
