Sophie is harnessed up early for her visit to the vets.
Before we set off she has a quick tour of the village. This is uneventful apart from the bounding arrival of the farmers sheepdog and his colleague , the white mutt. They go into paroxysms of delight when they see Sophie. She feigns complete indifference. Spurned, the sheepdog and mutt rush after their master who is heading off on his tractor to the Holy Oak. The farm dogs linger just long enough for me to give each of them an ear chook.
The vets prognosis. A full twenty minutes on the surgery table. Some intestinal soreness. New medication is prescribed. We're to come back again in two weeks to see whether a scan is necessary. The vet says he's not too worried. Time will be the best cure. She's made remarkable progress. Sophie was due to have her annual shots but it's decided these can wait.
A head teacher celebrating retirement after 30 years of dealing with sixth graders. A service of thanksgiving . Follow the bishop ( the woman in red with the staff ) as she heads down the nave. It made me smile. Courtesy is timeless :https://youtu.be/kiZh9GTV4xQ?t=6104

Good to hear the vet is not too worried about Sophie.
I am looking forward to Nobby learning to feign indifference to the dogs in Duthie Park, rather than his current strategy of over-enthusiastic and indiscriminate jumping all over all and sundry!
I'm pleased too, to hear that Sophie's condition is not causing the vet too much concern. How relieved you and 'The Font' must be too, Angus - not to mention Sophie!
A reason for extra curly croissant ends and ear scrunches to celebrate?
Good to hear that the vet is happy with Sophie. We hope that she is on the mend.
Celebrate with and extra croissant!
I am so happy about Sophie
As a follow up, I have followed your blog since Will and Digby, and my beloved joined in when Bob and Sophie came along.
He is very ill and won't get better. I was scared to tell him about Sophie until she was on the mend. He was upset, but delighted. You steal our hearts for your dogs, Angus. You really do.
What splendid news for Sophie and her flock!
The teacher retirement service caused leaky eyes here. He must have been an exceptional (and patient) 6th grade teacher.
Glad to read the good report about the family diva -- and I agree, waiting to do her vaccines is probably a good idea -- you don't want to tax her immune system anymore than it already has been. Continued good vibes for her for my corner of the US.
Sophie, keep up the good work! I'll eat a croissant for you, since butter isn't good for your liver!
Always good to hear that the vet is not too concerned!
More good vibes from this corner of the world. Sophie, we are rooting for you, and wishing some renewed peace of mind for Angus and The Font.
