Determined not to understand.

Tuesday morning. Everyone  is up and about bright and early. Caroline the 'unhappy' cleaning lady is due at eight and the house has to be 'got ready' for her arrival. Angus thinks it's illogical that the house should be straightened up before Caroline comes. 'The Font' says something Delphic about PONs not being the only reason the place is being tidied up.

Every day of the week the angelic duo are happy to be put into their harnesses . This of course does not apply to the morning when Caroline is due and we are all in a mad rush. Sophie does her ' OMG ! I'm not putting my head in that !! ' routine. She heads off upstairs. Bob follows her. Both let the world know that they're being tortured. Sophie hides under a bed.

Finally, they're in the back of the car. Bob leaps in. Sophie, who usually bounces up, makes it clear she's going to have to be lifted. '' Come on ! You get up there every day ! " said to a dog who is determined not to understand. Haste an impossibility when there are dogs about.

Demis Roussos has passed away. As a tribute Radio Nostalgie plays this improbably pitched song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTgloMcGh7k

Did no one think to say the PON magic words - "croissants and sausages" ?

As I teenager, I too rebelled against the "tidy your bedroom for the cleaning lady" concept. Now, staying in my mother's home with her acutely ill in hospital, I shall feel compelled to do the same tidying before her help Christine turns up tomorrow.
Cheers, Gail.
PS from Bertie to Sophie: you make him lift you into the car if that's what you want. You deserve it!

There's none so deaf as a dog that doesn't want to hear. Something all dog owners soon learn

We have a similar thing happen when the holistic vet comes to our house. I put Todd into a crate, and he acts like he's never gone into one in his life. And then the chorus of howling begins--The injustice of it all!

The tidying up does make sense. I used to do it myself when we had a cleaning lady. If you're paying someone for three hours' cleaning and it takes them two hours to tidy up then only one hour's cleaning gets done. If you tidy up before they arrive the house gets a better clean!
In any case, I didn't want my cleaning lady tidying up my paperwork or putting away the washing - I might never find it again! Plus the weekly tidying up ritual was good discipline.

I'm sure Mme Bay is in mourning for DR.

You have to tidy, so there are surfaces to actually clean!

What vibrations do dogs pick up that makes them change their routines at the most inconvenient times.......

I never understood the "cleaning up before the cleaning lady comes" concept...treading on eggshells around the unhappy Caroline will only continue to enable the situation....I miss Madame Bay.
So sorry to hear of Demis Roussos's passing.
