The garagistes wedding present and Christmas Song #3

The sun rising as we head off on our morning walk. Bob trots along by my side. We chat as we go. Sophie runs ahead of us shrieking. Why walk quietly when there are invisible things for a girl to chase ?

By the time we've made it to the end of the ridge the early morning fog has started to lift. It's going to be another balmy day. We sit on the storm drain and watch the sun rise. Bob listens while Angus describes Brian Mulroney's eulogy at the Bush funeral. The young garagiste stops to tell me he's not spoken to his girl friend about the wedding present ( he's forgotten to ask her ) but he thinks it would be '' really nice if you could get us an ornament ... or something ".

Angus starts the slow process of putting up the Christmas decorations.  After some searching he finds the little glass Christmas tree in a box in the cellar. This is very fragile and it is something of a miracle it has survived.

The tall, oversized, Shaker candlesticks bought in San Francisco forty years ago are put on the dining table. Every year we wonder why we bought the things. A box with glass bells and blue baubles is found. There are presumably two of these as the first box only has enough ornaments to decorate one candle stick. The gremlins that move the Christmas decorations into impossible to find places have been busy.

Tomorrow, when 'The Font' returns, we shall start on the Christmas tree.

Bob and Sophie do an excellent job of guarding.

Bob spends much of the day with Lamb on a Rope clasped firmly in his jaws.

The most Swedish of carols . You really can't get any more Swedish than this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ccMfR1TsBU

I'm sure the garagiste thought he was being helpful...

Better start the search for the Kilt and accoutrements if The Gremlins have been busy.

Ornament????
Maybe you can find somebody else who is attending the wedding and suggest going in with them on a gift (shift the responsibility!). Is the couple registered somewhere? Another option is the always-the-right-size, always-the-right-color chèque for the nuptial cagnotte.

Cheques are a different French village minefield. What is too much ? Or too little ? One persons 'just right' is another persons ' You'd think they could manage a bit more '.

I love the little birds on the dining table - very sweet.

Although my love of Bob with his friend has almost peaked with these photos.

We also wonder what kind of ornament they would expect? I would think that cash would be the ideal gift!! Or maybe a voucher for dinner at somewhere close by?

Lovely singing...
Ornament?! unless you know the young lady, that could be its own sort of 'minefield'! How about getting one of your photos of the village enlarged and framed??? Personal, local, no dusting or shelf-space required... YAM xx

Here's something PONs might enjoy. A Christmas carol from a mountain region sang by a PON breeder (my dogs breeder). https://youtu.be/LplZUnYLh70 you may also check out her other winter videos https://youtu.be/-w-jpPobuoA

The Font may be able to find something beautiful in London...

For a brief moment I thought that the "ornament ... or something" you were going to give the young couple was the ornaments and glass object shown in your next photo! Perhaps there is something in the ROFH with provenance, from your and the Font's many years together, which can be gifted to the young ones.

I enjoyed Christmas Song #3. Thanks.
