Bob stands on his stump seat and watches a band of pilgrims . He has picked up a rubber ball and is squeezing it firmly between his jaws as they saunter by. This gives him an unintentional Hannibal Lecter air.
Back in Scotland 'The Font' notices an unusually dour Presbyterian epitaph on a tombstone in the Cathedral.
And a 'Benjamin Franklin was here' plaque . How he managed to jet around in an age before jets is remarkable.

The tombstone is indeed very Presbyterian.
Good to start the day with Mahler, whose music always bring back fond memories of my father.

I think the tombstone is rather poetic. Kind of like "you never really know somebody."

Those words, in fact, show a depth of philosophic understanding beyond Presbyterian teaching ("We rejoice in the gift of eternal life: We have sure and certain hope of resurrection through Christ). The phrasing is closer to Vedantic understanding (pure consciousness: the life source of all that has been, is and will be throughout the entire cosmos), which does not provide any physical anchor for the roaming spirit.
Given the spelling on the plaque, I am guessing the daughters of the revolution carried it all the way over the ocean... YAM xx

I feel compelled to "correct" my comment on yesterday's post. In my haste, I read that The Font had been invited to give a lecture on volcanic and magmatic studies, rather than attend a lecture. As we are all in awe of her many accomplishments, I was quite willing to add one more to the list. After all, she IS The Font.
And today's post brings something I thought impossible: a photo where dear Bob looks just a wee bit frightening. As for Sophie's hair style, I especially enjoy the photos of our lovely diva looking rumpled.
