A scrum.

Hallelujah ! A cold front blows through bringing cloud and rain. The temperature back into the 20's. The angelic duo are delighted. They are also up super early to enjoy a day outside. A cold wet nose in my ear wakes me at 5:30 on the dot with the good news.

This morning when putting on Bobs collar I find a lump under the skin on his neck. Something that will need to be monitored. No point in worrying.

'The Font' heads off into the supermarket. Today it's a scrum , presumably because folks have been penned up inside all week because of the heat and can now finally get out. Angus checks out the exotic foods counter. The Polish section is a sign of the times. Five years ago there wasn't one but as Polish builders, doctors and plumbers spread out across Europe the section gets ever larger.

Vodka chocolates. 'Liquer fills with vodka filling' as the packet says. Angus is undecided as to whether this may be a wonderful or not wonderful taste.

Smoked sprats in oil. The can informs me they are winter sprats. This presumably means there are summer sprats. Angus isn't sure whether he's ever knowingly tasted a sprat.

We agree - a big no to the vodka chocolates and the sprats. Bring on the cakes!!!

It must be nice to be a bit cooler.

I can feel the relief from the heat!
Your description of the Polish section reminds me of a time when a friend and I were hesitating over a large selection of chocolate in a shop in Krakow, and a passing (presumably German) tourist waved his hand over the whole shelf and advised us with great certainty "Das ist alles Scheiss!"

Run, Ducky, run!!! Loved that vid clip. Now I need to go remind myself what exactly a sprat is in relation to the marine world... YAM xx

Well that's a German attitude toward Polish for you. It was there in 1939, and it's still alive and present. So sad. The chocolates are fine, good value for the price you pay. Might not be the best what's out there, but certainly not scheiss by any measure. Much better than Cadburry, Hershey. Depends what you're looking for and which brand you select.

Hard to imagine wanting to be a doc in the US. The profession limited the number of slots a century ago, and now they graduate with hundreds of thousands in debt, are expected to work impossible hours, and are allotted about ten minutes per patient so the insurance system can shovel through enough bodies daily to generate large numbers. Rather unhealthy all around.

You're taunting us again, aren't you, showing pictures of shelving adequate for all your books. Harrumph.

Hoping all will be well with Bob. Sprats or vodka-filled chocolates will not be appearing on my shopping list either. You do spot the oddest things on the grocery shelves.

We are happy that cooler weather came you way finally. We hope everything with the lump on Bob is just nothing and he will be ok. Thanks for the share. Have a relaxing and cool rest of your weekend.

Your post reminds me of something I read the other day that ice cream trucks do their best business on cooler days, and not the hottest ones because people don't want to go outside.
