Quite remarkable

The Old Farmer sees us out in the garden early. His femur is playing up so he too is up and about. Another octogenarian farmer, a friend of his, has won the lottery and is buying himself an Audi SUV with the proceeds. They will both go off to the dealership later this morning to take delivery of it. " His sons are dead set against it " the old farmer informs me.  This, considering the sum involved and the dent in their inheritance, is not surprising.

Much activity by the fish pond. A large orange truck is parked outside the German billionaires new motorbike workshop. The truck is making a loud grinding noise. The PONs and their human companion give it a wide berth.

Eagle eyed readers maybe able to catch the sight of two Coot tail feathers disappearing into the thick foliage by the side of the village pond. .

Sophie glares at the cautious bird. She has that look of steely determination which suggests pursuit. I grab her harness

The croissant this morning a 9.7/10. Light, flaky and yet buttery. The PONs are in full agreement. They also get some tiny slices of sponge that didn't rise in the oven. Bob is unsure about it so Sophie manages to get 3/4 of what's on offer.

At the newsagent cards for 85, 90 and 100 year birthdays. Don't think I've ever seen a centenary card before.

Concert time in deepest France profonde. Last night we hear this jaunty little number : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2X-PEdDbRw

I looked up coots and moorhens, which look to me like a duck-loon cross. Are the tail feathers you mention about in the middle of the photo, just below where the foliage seems to change from ivy to palm fronds?
I knew nothing of your ambassador, either, but am in full agreement with his personnel assessments.

The croissant does indeed look excellent this morning.

I rather think they are under the bullrush leaves which connect with the lily pads on the far right of image.

Meanwhile, high-point croissants set much of the world to rights. YAM xx

I keep wondering whether you would have to rescue Sophie from the pond if she ever made it in there or whether it's shallow enough for her to get out on her own. I'm sure you don't want to find out.

The Darroch affair is still very much in the news over here. Perhaps people are going to have to resort to using snail mail for very sensitive subjects such as an honest assessment of our president.

This is a rather fun endeavor. Find the coots and Moorhens among a background of greenery! Emm, I am seeing as you are.
