Twitching toes
The temperature has settled in a low to mid 30's range. Bearable but still hot enough to evaporate a couple of inches of water from the pool. Bob watches as Angus unrolls the hosepipe and starts to top up what's been lost . Bob is keen to become involved in any and everything Angus does in the garden. Sophie heads to the kitchen in the hope 'The Font' is throwing food on the floor.
Look closely and you'll see mother Coot hurtling across the lily leaves to the safety of the undergrowth. Sophie glares. How is it that both the Coots and Moorhens always know when we're coming ?
After the pond it's down through the sunflowers to the little stream.
We detour to the motorway service station for a coffee, croissant and a bowl of cold water. The truck stop is a favourite with the PONs. Lots of trees for Bob to de-threat and exotic odours for Sophie to savour and explore . Both PONs stop and look at a pair of feet that are hanging out of a car window. The toes are twitching. Sophie is hurried along before she thinks of 'dealing with' the twitching toes.
The plastic Eiffel Towers are selling slowly.
A new addition to the service stations retail offerings. Shelves of cookery books . Could only be France.

Sophie need to work on her stealth approach skills.
Might be the excited shrieking that does it.

...ah but waterbirds have sonar at work for them. Even if Sophie mastered silence, they'd be gone! Meanwhile, we are thoroughly entertained. I'd say the ROF and the village (or its inhabitants) would make a fabulous telly show &*> YAM xx
The gardens are looking nice and green and not too parched considering how hot it is.
I do wonder who the Eiffel towers appeal too.
We think they must appeal to Spanish school children heading to Paris. Seems that there aren't that many coachloads so they never sell.
I laughed out loud with Sophie hoping to find the font throwing food on the floor! What a picture.
In defense of the Eiffel Tower display, I was just thinking how amusing (and colorful) they'd be massed like that as a holiday table decoration.
If we're to continue looking at pictures of vanishing Coots, my monitor may need an upgrade to better resolution.
One day. soon. there will be a photo of the Coots that can be clearly seen without the aid of a telescope. I hope.
Sophie lives in hope of food triggered psychotic moments.
Don't think Sophie qualifies as a stealth PON. The birds must hear her coming from quite a distance.
That video gave us huge smiles.
