Stamina and strength,

Boy is it hot ! Another five thirty start to the day. It  hit 44 degrees yesterday which was too much. How the Tour de France can carry on in this heat a testament to the riders stamina and strength.

The PONs are adjusting to the heat by having their second walk of the day at eight . By then it's nudging 30 degrees - hot but not too hot. The sunflowers provide glorious shade on the way down and back up the hill. The little stream is wonderful for cooling hot paws.

We stop and look at the Senegalese melon pickers. They're too far away to come over to speak to the angelic duo. It's also too hot for the angelic duo to consider racing off to see the Senegalese melon pickers.

Another cake malfunction. 'The Font' orders a chocolate cake from the young lady in the neighbouring village for Angus's birthday on Sunday. We get a text on Friday to say she's been taken into hospital. This morning we get a new text saying the cake is ready for collection.  It is now a post-birthday cake.

Belated Happy Birthday Angus. The cake looks very Angus-appropriate!
Forty degrees is FAR TO HOT. Nice and warm yesterday here in Aberdeen. Not often I get to cycle home from Pilates at 8pm, comfortable in tee shirt and shorts!
Cheers, Gail.

Happy birthday! The cake looks worth the wait.
Flat peaches are fantastic. The uglier the produce, the tastier.
Our house, shutters closed on the sunny side, was cool compared to outdoors, but by the end of the day, having baked on the east and then broiled on the west, it got stuffy--around 30 vs. 37 outside. A lost day, spent binge-watching La Casa del Papel and drinking iced water. I don't know how anybody can get anything done in such heat.

Happy Birthday. The cake Looks tasty. Even when ist hot, chocolate is a treat. 44 degrees are too hot. Here in Basel the forecast says 38 degrees for today and tomorow. Its already too dry and still no rain for the next days.

Belated Birthday Greetings from a very hot, very sunny, and overcrowded Spain with lots and lots of French cars here ! That cake looks scrumptious whatever the celebration.
We're experiencing the same temperatures that you are, and the only way to cool off is to wallow in the pool. Out for our early morning walk around 6:30 when it's a cool 26ºC+. That's it for the rest of the day - it's still too hot for another walk until the early hours. Then the mosquitos are out in force !

A very merry un-birthday to you. Beautiful cake, and I hope the baker lady is recovered. Mmmmmm, chocolate.

Well, here, in the Atlanta area, we have gone from high 90 degrees with dripping humidity to mid 80 degrees and very little humidity, almost overnight! And we have a 29 year old man competing in the Tour de France from the metro area. Bunches of Birthday wishes! Have you finished the cake?

A post-birthday cake is a wonderful idea, especially one as delicious looking as this cake. It could become a tradition at the ROF. I always look forward to your sunflower display; so grand.
