When in the course of human events ....

Bob settles down under the curtains at the front door and watches the sun rise. His sister wanders into the kitchen to see if there is anything to scavenge.

We set off down the lane. Our morning ritual to check on the goats, the new born calves, the donkeys and the two horses in the field by the water cistern. Regular readers of the blog will be delighted ( but not surprised ) to learn that everything in the village is ship shape and Bristol fashion.

On the way home we stop to study the town hall notice board. Usually it is completely devoid of notices but today two have made an appearance.

There are lost dogs in neighbouring villages. Higgins and Djamgo. How heartbreaking it must be to lose a dog - doubly so in this heat.

There has been a new addition to the town hall. A defibrillator machine. The government has decreed that all communes must have one. For some reason the wall mounted holder has been installed but the machine has yet to arrive. The mayor says that it's on its way but he and the municipal councillors must first go and attend a defibrillator use class before it can be delivered and wired up.

Bob watches the grain trucks hurtle by along the lane. He stands on his stump seat. Little sister takes up a more prudent defensive position behind.

Have you ever seen such a shiny floor ? A July 4 song sung ( as it should be ) in the right pitch, in the right key and without embellishments . Anyone who has been to a football game in rural America will know that if you start off too high or too low this can be a very unforgiving tune : https://youtu.be/x__qtjjh6WI?t=10

When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for a people to try to understand their disaffection with their government..

As true today Angus as it was then !!

Now you have me wondering about the origin of the phrase 'Bristol fashion'.
I do hope the dogs are found and returned to their families.
Cheers, Gail.

Your lane looks lovely and peaceful.

The AED is a great idea for a small community and is easy to use and saves lives. I hope that you and the font will train to use it as well.

Every dog owners worst nightmare. I pray that both will safely be reunited with their owners very quickly. I worry about this and take Inca with me whenever possible.
One hopes that the youth of the village do not see the defibrillator as an alternative to computer games !

Hope the missing dogs are found, especially one with such a great name as Django.
I've always understood Bristol fashion to mean neat, everything in order and as it should be so that the ship operates smoothly -- as if, in life, we could do this!
Weather forecast for DC this afternoon is for rain, thunder, and lightning. Just saying.
