The morning radio provides the interesting fact that there is a huge school bus driver shortage in the US. Seems that more than half of drivers are over 65 and their numbers have been particularly susceptible to the latest Delta outbreak. The radio doesn't tell me what schools are doing to counter the shortage.
The moorhen chicks out and about on the pond as the day dawns. Their size and level of activity suggests they are about to literally fly the nest.
Our morning croissants have been lack lustre affairs but todays is a Parisian style delight. Light, fluffy with the pastry cooked to perfection . A 9.8 /10. This sudden uptick in quality may signify that the regular baker has returned from a lengthy holiday.
Back at The Rickety Old Farmhouse the family diva displays her door opening technique. PONs know that if you stare at a door hard enough and long enough it will eventually open.

We are cheering for the capybaras. Wellington NZ has a wealthy suburb built on a former penguin colony. The (protected) penguins are returning and nesting under their houses. The penguins make noises like braying donkeys and make the place smell like un unrefrigerated fish market. We cheered for the penguins as well. Nothing agsinst the owners of expensive homes but wealth does not always buy good sense, and they shouldn't complain that the 'nature' in their exclusive community doesn't match their decor.
Tha capybaras certainly look well fed. As I sip my cup of tea made from the Tetleys tea bag supplied by my Horsham hotel I look with envy at the products in the first link. And had my niece and I not last night stuffed ourselves with the best Indian meal I've eaten for years, at 'Sadiq Khan's favourite restaurant' in Tooting, my mouth would surely be watering! A friend of mine is 74, and still driving the afternoon school bus, as long as she can, she enjoys it.
The tea looks very interesting, and it's a very attractive website. I'm not much of a tea drinker, but it reminds me that we used to go to a café that had a similar selection, served in similar teapots - such a delightful change from teabags! Sadly like so many good things it's a victim of the long absence of customers during our Covid lockdown.
It must be me, but I'm sorry to say that I don't find the food displayed at Le Bastion particularly appealing, especially the large photo of whatever it is. Your breakfast croissant however, looks yummy, and much better than the 5/10 one that I had this morning! I asked for toasted and it had been given a whirl in the microwave - it was like leather!
Not sure what I'd do if confronted with a capybara - they look a bit too intimidating to take home as a pet!
Post Brexit it's much easier ( and cheaper ) to order from EU websites - this also applies to tea.
