Mid-Atlantic.

The moon setting on one side of the sunflower fields as the sun rises on the other. It's that time of the day when only the old mayor, early rising dog owners and stop out owls are up and about.

We are at the cafe at six. Sophie hasn't had curly croissant ends in a few days and is more than willing to overlook a super early start to her day. We head off with all the windows down which makes travelling in the back of the car akin to being on deck in a mid-Atlantic gale . This is just fine by her. This mornings example straight out of the oven and a buttery 9.1/10.

We're back home by six thirty. The old mayor is busy at work weeding the flower beds. This morning he's particularly chatty. He's had to ask for an additional fan to be brought into his wifes bedroom. The old folks home is air conditioned but the cooling system is struggling with this long spell of 40 degree plus temperatures.

The village becoming a magnet for cyclists wanting to try out the Tour de France route. There must have been a hundred of them yesterday. Some come singly, others in groups of ten or so. All are completely oblivious to the rules of the road .

I watched this and was taken by the fact the President has adopted a lip synching style ( go to the 0:57 mark ) to go along with all 3 verses of the national anthem :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tcDSWoMbnHk

Gail is thrilled by this year's Tour de France and would love to be one of those cyclists riding the route. I'm thinking we'll see le Tour passing just a west of your village a week from today on Stage 19. Can't wait!
Cheers, Gail.
PS Nobby has a different take on all things cycling on his blog today.

Not a follower of the cycling but will make a special effort to watch if it's coming near to your village. Perhaps, Sophie, you and 'The Font' can wave to us!
A pleasant 22º when Inca and I stepped out at around 7:15 this morning but it's warming up a little too quickly. Inca will spend her morning in the porch with the air-con on, whilst I go out to catch up with friends.

I anticipate your photos of the 10 seconds of the tour passing, as much as the sweet little diva anticipates the next visit to the bakery. Watching the tour thunder by remains on my bucket list.
