Equilibrium

This morning 'The Font' has all the shutters open in an attempt to get some of the post dawn cool air into the house. Faced with all this activity Sophie opts for a start of day napette . A girl must retain her equilibrium when all around are losing theirs.

The process of downsizing now well and truly underway. Angus is responsible for dealing with furniture. 'The Font' will deal with everything else. Thank you to those who offered advice on how to cope with the trauma of moving.  We have decided to go full steam ahead with getting the larger pieces out of the house so that we can then do the rest at a less stressful pace. Next week the two French left hand drive cars will be sold and a right hand drive one acquired. All of this of course assumes that we will head to Scotland rather than Sweden. The next week should make everything clear or at least clearer.

Somewhere along the road we became collectors of ornaments. This was not intentional.

Yesterday, an auctioneer arrived from Toulouse to whisk away some furniture and what he quaintly describes as 'trappings'. Three men are there to pack and load the van. One man does nothing, one man reads lists and the third man does everything. The third man manages to carry out an old Swedish grandfather clock on his back. This workload division seems to me unfair but I content myself by telling the auction house that in 'Pierre' ( not his real name ) they have a worker to be proud of. The others are left unmentioned.

I found this story intriguing.  Make sure you have an enclosed garage if you want to live in Nashville. So much for the US being an easy going place if you're a home owner  :https://www.nashvillescene.com/news/coverstory/code-snitching-nashvillians-are-weaponizing-metro-codes-against-undesirable-neighbors/article_5e94bd56-0c67-11ed-af4e-e3d04ad7e500.html

Looks like you've made huge progress Angus. DOn't let them pack the wine and glasses - you're going to to need them! I was saddened by the Nashville piece, I wasn't surprised. I remember when we looked to the US as such a desirable place - now I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole!

Beginning to feel real now, and we look forward to your new adventures.

It really is happening! I wish Angus and the Font all the best in the face of so many difficult decisions.
It always surprises me how, in the 'land of the free' you can buy a semi-automatic weapon with few questions asked but, if your face does not fit you can expect to be cited for a 'code violation' for leaving a few tools on the driveway or not mowing the grass for a couple of weeks...
Cheers! Gail.

Its not one bit different here in my small town of NH and it has nothing to do with skin tone or home value. If there's an 'avid' code enforcement officer on staff they'll hound you to death and attach fines until one complies to their standards. Right now our town enforcement officer's 'raison d'etre' is going after anyone with an RV or travel trailer parked in their yard. *sigh*

Seeing your plans put so quickly into action is so exciting. And by all that's holy, don't sell off the wonderfully wonky nativity scene. We're all hoping to catch sight of it again this Christmas.

Camille - You can rest assured that the family nativity scene falls into the 'inviolate' category and won't be thrown out. The problem is that so much else also seems to be 'inviolate'.

In our first big (adult) move, from Sausalito, CA to McLean, VA, our very helpful mover gave us the mantra, "If you don't love it, leave it." Of course, I suspect "inviolate" translates to "love." What to do, what to do?

20% of the people do 80% of the real work? Stay cool, new adventures await.

So, it's not certain that you will go to Scotland?
It doesn't seem so long ago that I was following your move from Italy to France, and now here you are, on the move again! I remember 'The Font' went to France and chose ROF for you, Digby and Wilf. What entertainment we had following the trials and tribulations of your restoration, and what interesting characters you've amassed over the years.
Have you told the village that you're moving - or have they guessed from all the activity?
Just a suggestion - find room for the Nativity scene in the car, keep it close by - and your sporran!

Will Sophie have to go into quarantine ?

Amazing progress. I too wonder what your neighbors know or suspect.

Ear scratches, walks and talks with a PONette will bring equilibrium to you.

Swan - Sophie will not have to go into quarantine. There is much paperwork required on both sides of the Channel. The biggest issue is the strict 5 day time window between getting a worming tablet at an approved vets in France and her being allowed into the UK.

I admire your resoluteness and confidence with regards to making such big moves. I sometimes wish to change where we live, but somehow can't decide where exactly. Too many places are interesting and the cost of moving seems a bit too high. France for sure seems so perfect with its weather and lifestyle.
I wish you all the best in your new home. I'll continue following your adventure's.

That piece on Nashville is another example of the systemic racism that exists throughout America.

I'm so glad the nativity scene is going with you. Have you considered, after selling your French cars, hiring a large car for your one way trip to the UK so your new car has UK plates and a UK dealership if the are any problems, to make things quicker than dealing with France from a distance

Defending what’s left of my country, here: Every city, town, county, and pit stop has been taken over by Agenda21-2030 through the American Planning Association, “regional planners,” and Metropolitan Planning Organizations, PPPs, etc……. all local, state, and county jurisdictions have been hijacked by an anti-constitutional sub-structure mostly working outside of public awareness. So our heretofore mostly homogeneous 80,000 pop city has used our tax dollars to hire a “diversity tsar” from the American Planning Association whose first act was to demand all pictures of former police chiefs who were white to be taken down from the police station and thrown out. Reverse racism? Mind you we have had three black mayors over time. Our formerly very successful textile and furniture industries have been destroyed by off-shoring, causing a service economy with attached low-paying jobs. So poverty areas set in. This created the desire for bailouts from the feds whose money all comes with strings which undermine local control / jurisdictions even more. Completely annihilating our constitutional separations. Top down tyranny.
America is being and has been destroyed from the top down. The larger cities are mostly all controlled by leftists and rinos. The majority of the public has been out of the loop, left ignorant of the noose tightening around their necks. Only now, with thee blatantly ridulous administration in charge are people beginning to wake up. The real Americans out here are fighting too many fronts and a leviathan coup. But to say that racism is “systemic” here is a media / cia propaganda lie. The court system has been hijacked also, which means criminals are walking free after horrendous assaults.
Anyway….differentiate between the American people and the UN globalist machine that has infiltrated us, if you would please. Don’t know if you will let me share this brief overview, but I can’t help but try to set the record straight.
