Cinema

The year moving right along. This morning as we set off on Sophie's start of day 'comfort break' the full moon is out. A couple of weeks ago and it would have been broad daylight.

Down by the waterfall the ground on either side of the stream is covered in fresh paw prints. Sophie takes a full five minutes and would take longer - much longer - to savour every scent but is 'encouraged' home.

We cut up the hill, along the ox track, past the Holy Oak and then back to The Rickety Old Farmhouse via the Village Hall. This enables wet paws to dry out. The Old Farmer is up and about early. Today he's going to be filling in more of the cracks in the venerable Ford Transits fibre glass roof.

The courier drops off some wine. We are once again his first delivery of the day. 3 bottle boxes make an appearance alongside the usual 6 bottle size. Perhaps there is some sort of packaging shortage.

After talking to the Manhattanites we head off for a croissant. The Manhattanites pronounce Senator Sinema's name like 'cinema'. I'd always thought it was pronounced Sin-ay-mah. You live and learn. Today we go to the nationwide cafe chain. Despite it being mass produced the croissant is surprisingly good: 8.4/10.

Chinese cool. Can someone explain this ? :https://youtu.be/-Rp7UPbhErE

Charlie requests that Sophie package up some of those scents from the banks of the stream and send them to Japan - nothing so exciting here! Regarding the linked song, it is apparently actually political satire and has already been banned in China. Who would have guessed? https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/insulting-aussie-singer-banned-in-china-after-releasing-controversial-song/news-story/39d9b47e760dd52227e46630f09598af

I knew Weibo had banned it but for the life of me any political message hidden in it is beyond comprehension. Perhaps it's as simple as the CCP doesn't like the singer ?

The term "Little Pink" is used to describe young nationalistic Chinese who are active on the internet, so I guess the message starts from the color. Although I'm sure the CCP does not like the singer, who lives in Taiwan. Things are getting a little strange out here in Asia.

Thanks Lisa for the insights into the 'pink' video. What it was all about certainly wasn't clear from the translated subtitles!

Inca is of the opinion that it's no good going anywhere if there aren't at least a million new smells to sniff at! She can sympathise with Sophie being "encouraged" on - happens to her all the time!
This morning a bit of excitement - we went to a new pet store in town, and I bought Inca a new collar as a belated birthday present - she was 12 yesterday. Can't say she was really thrilled by the prospect of trying on collars - not with all those huge bags of dog food piled high nearby!
In spite of Lisa's explanation of the 'pink' video, I'm not much wiser either, but it was certainly pink!

The first picture is a beauty. Angus looks to be well-stocked with wine.

I'm not sure what good it does to comment in the middle of the night in France, unless Sophie has alerted you to potential dangers in the wee hours, and you feel like checking the blog while you're up.
