The fish.

A bright warm start for our walk through the onion fields. Sophie is raring to go. We've been up early talking to folks in New York about the mid terms and Kevin McCarthy and Hunter Bidens laptop. The word 'impeachment' makes an unwelcome return to the daily vocabulary.

Down by the stream Sophie heads off , head down, into the middle of a ploughed field. The cause of her detour soon discovered. A stork has dropped a fish which is now happily rotting away. Sophie has taken two bites out of it before I arrive to ruin her enjoyment.

The farmers wife has started picking the strawberries in her polytunnels. She drops of a kilo at the gate when she's heading into town. For the next six weeks Angus will have strawberries at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Todays croissant of the ' it's been an hour since it left the oven ' variety. Ever so slightly stale. It's scored 8.2/10.

What is it with the daisies?  Angus cut the lawn on Wednesday. Look at it today. They are sprouting like mad.

Have missed the quiet and peace of the French country side. Strawberries at your door…ahhhh.
Had a hot cross croissant this morning…yes you read that correctly,…..something new.
We have been avoiding rotten fish along the river…not only a snack, but lovely to roll in. Too bad Sophie’s fun was curtailed…

Although aware of the denser population in SE Asia, the Yuxi is a new notion and interesting... do you think the daisies might be plotting their own patch of populaced geography??? YAM xx

No bothersome cows and a rotting fish - what better way to start the day? Certainly better than having to talk about Kevin McCarthy and Hunter Biden's laptop. The daisies are beautiful, something I miss, as we don't seem to have plain old simple white daisies in Japan.

The daisies do look lovely. And oh for a punnet of your locally grown strawberries. And surely Angus should be grateful the dropped fish had not reached the stage in decomposition that would tempt Sophie into an aromatic roll.
Now off to search the news websites for Hunter Biden's laptop.
Have a great Easter weekend.
Cheers! Gail.

8.2/10 isn't too bad for an ever so slightly stale croissant, and those strawberries look delicious.
Angus, you remind me of my late father-in-law (who was also a Scot) - he travelled miles for decent strawberries, and also had them for almost every meal!

How lovely the daisies are!

I am looking forward to fresh local strawberries, they will taste real. I assume Sophie can smell what is safe to eat and what is not.

To assume Sophie has any understanding of what is safe and what isn't would be a fairly major assumption. The riper it is, the more appealing !

The daisies and the strawberries look lovely - pass on the old fish! Why do you speak to serious men in suits on the other side of the world please?
